Kimmie Jones was a founding member and enthusiastic supporter of Fashion is for Every Body. Born with Muscular Dystrophy and wheelchair-dependent, she participated in our inaugural runway show and was instrumental in turning an idea into an official nonprofit organization. Kimmie passed away in 2017 but we honor her legacy through our annual adaptive clothing pattern award.

This award is given to one designer a year to create an adaptive clothing pattern. That pattern is then available for custom order in a range of sizes, which offers people with disabilities fashionable clothing options. Eric Adler is the recipient of our inaugural award. He will create an adaptive pattern for jeans that makes it easier for people with disabilities to dress themselves. The pattern will then be sized up or down and used to create size-specific garments upon request of customers.

Here are photos and video of the patterning for adaptive jeans in progress.
